For just about 10 USD per bike per day (approximately 200,000 VND/bike/day) depending on the type (semi-automatic or automatic scooter type), you can easily rent a motorbike from any of the small shops in Bai Chay, the main tourist town of Halong City. Just remember to leave your basic information to the owner of the shop/motorbike such as your name, nationality, hotel you’re staying at, and your room number, and you’re good to go.

There are three main areas in Halong City: Bai Chay, the main tourist town where most of the shops, restaurants, boat companies, hotels, hostels and the night market are; Hon Gai, the main town of Halong City where you may visit the Quang Ninh Museum, Bai Tho Mountain, and the Halong Central Market; and Tuan Chau Marina, the newly developed island where the resorts and high quality boat companies are based. You may visit all of these three main places in one whole day on a motorbike.

Just always remember to be extra careful and cautious when driving a motorbike especially on the highway as the big buses and trucks cause a lot of accidents in some of these areas.
