On the main road leading from Cat Ba Town to Cat Ba National Park lie the remnants of a secret military cave, which was built inside a mountain and served as a secret, bomb-proof hospital during the American War. Built from 1963 to 1965 was constantly used until 1975, the hospital then was handed over to the tourism authorities and has became a historical monument which recalls the past when American bomber planes were pounding the region.

Soi Sim is a small island located 12km west of Halong City, only 700m away from Titov Island. With the area of 8.7 hectare, the island with two mountain tops of about 200m high above the sea level. Soi Sim Island has very special geological formation 2/3 of which covered by Feralit and soil weathered by wind, which is favourite condition for the growth of a plant species named Sim (also known as downy rose myrtle, downy myrtle, hill gooseberry, hill guava).
