If you ask a Vietnamese about Chinese food, most people will mention Peking Duck (Vịt Quay Bắc Kinh) first. You can be easy to buy Peking Duck in many crowd areas from Peking Duck stores, local markets, or supermarkets. You can also easily found a bowl of Wheat Wontons (Mỳ Vằn Thắn) or Dumpling (Sủi Cảo) on street. But they are just some common dishes with slightly different taste. If you wish to have a genuine taste and wider menu, keep reading this article for more suggestions.

Chinese Restaurants in Halong Bay

Actually, there are some differences in cooking method or rate of spices between two countries’ cuisine style. Hence, if you are looking for a real Chinese taste, you should go straight to a Chinese food restaurant. There are two big ones in Halong City:

    • Quan Hải Lầu Restaurant. Add: Near Bai Chay Tourist Wharf, Halong road, Halong City. Tel: (+84) 333 847 037
    • Bảo Long Restaurant. Add: No 122, Group 6, Zone 8, Pillar 5 Urban Area, Halong City. Tel: (+84) 913 267 878. This one has an abundant Chinese food menu.
As many Chinese who have come to Vietnam suggest, you should try rice noodle soup with beef (Phở) and spring roll (Nem rán). Besides, Hot pot and seafood BBQ can be your familiar things which many Vietnamese like.

Chinese food during Tour/Cruise trip in Halong Bay

Chinese tourists come to Vietnam usually choose two different kinds of tour.

    • The first one is sharing tour with people from different countries. Normally, this tour serves famous Vietnamese and International foods. You can have some Chinese foods like Dim sum during an International buffet meal. For other dishes, especially Vietnamese food, you may find something similar to what you have in China like noodle or soup.
    • The other one is an all-chinese group tour. In this tour, you can request Chinese food for every meal. This kind is often a package tour from China to many places in Vietnam like Hanoi, Sa Pa, and Halong Bay.

Normally, you can discus with your tour company or tour guide about food and they will do their best to  arrange Chinese food for you; though don’t expect that the taste can be 100% alike to original Chinese dishes. However, we suggest you to try local food as much as you can as travel is a great opportunity to experience new culture, new cuisine.
