Japanese food in Halong Bay
It would be an uneasy feeling when you suddenly crave for sushi or sashimi when staying in Halong Bay as Japanese food can be found easily in many Vietnamese cities, but not in Halong Bay.
In fact, you can frequently see rolled sushi, Western-style sushi as starter dish in many buffet courses at restaurants or on cruises but aside from that Japanese food is rare to be seen in Halong Bay.
Japanese Restaurant in Halong Bay
Currently, the only one Japanese restaurant in Halong City is Hana Hana restaurant, located on second floor of Royal Lotus hotel. It’s a luxury restaurant, with delicious dishes and beautiful decoration. They serve an abundant menu with wide range types of food from Sushi to Teppanyaki. One note is they just speak English there, not Japanese.

Tour/Cruise trip
There’s no tour available focusing on serving Japanese food. Thus, if you seriously want to have Japanese food, book a private tour which takes you to Hana Hana restaurant. On the other hand, because Vietnam and Japan are both Asian countries, some Vietnamese dishes can be similar to Japanese food, like boiled rice, tempura or vegetable soup. Hence, you can imagine that you are having a special chance to enjoy a Japanese-food-sibling during a Halong Bay tour or cruise trip.
Dishes you might have
We suggest you to try all dishes that are offered to you. Meals are often a mixture of Vietnamese and International foods. Even though those dishes can be different in used spices and ways of cooking, they still can taste delicious to you. Basically, Vietnamese food tastes light and clean and is much likely suitable for Japanese-dish lovers.
